Charity Knitting - Knitting for Orphans
Warm Woolies is a non-profit organization whose volunteers knit warm clothing for poverty-stricken children who would otherwise suffer from cold. Our mission is to provide the very neediest children with wool sweaters, vests, hats, mittens, and socks.
In 2008, we're knitting for children living in orphanages in Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia and on the Rosebud and Pine Ridge tribal reservations in South Dakota. Our goal for 2008 is to knit 7,000 pieces of warm wool clothing for these children!
Warm Woolies supplies yarn, patterns, and needles to knitters throughout the Denver area. If you're outside Denver and need wool yarn in order to participate, we ask that you do the following:
- Knit something warm with the yarn you have. If you have acrylic yarn, please consider making a baby blanket. We have a tremendous need for them.
- When you send the piece to Warm Woolies, include a note telling us what you would like to knit and whether you need to borrow knitting needles.
- Send the finished piece and your note to:

We welcome volunteer knitters of all skill levels.
If you're interested in knitting for children with the fewest resources, you've come to the right place. Please read over our "Guidelines for Knitters" page which will tell you where to start. Email us if you need additional information.
