Materials:
- Size #13, 16" circular needle, and double-pointed needles to work the final couple of rounds.
- About 4 ounces of wool. Use three strands of worsted weight yarn held together or the equivalent, to get a gauge of about 2 stitches per inch.
1. Cast on 42 stitches and join, being careful not to twist.
2. Knit 6 rounds.
3. Increase 6 stitches evenly spaced in the next round by knitting into the front and back of every 7th stitch.
4. Knit for 5 ½ inches more, measuring from the increase round.
5. Decrease for crown as follows:
- (knit 6, knit 2 together) first round;
- (knit 5, knit 2 together) second round;
- (knit 4, knit 2 together) third round;
- (knit 3, knit 2 together) fourth round;
- (knit 2, knit 2 together) fifth round;
- (knit 1, knit 2 together) sixth round;
- (knit 2 together) seventh round.
6. With 6 stitches remaining, cut a long tail, thread through the live stitches and secure firmly.
*An adjective, mainly slang, used in pop culture to express approval. Hence, someone or something that is phat could be cool, entertaining, intelligent, attractive or otherwise to be admired.
